Erin x LAUREN
For renowned Interior Designer, Erin Fetherston, this is where she thrives. Her ability to see beyond what is currently in front of her and transform a space into the dreams of her clients and how they want to live is a talent we admire here at Barnaby Lane.
The Client
Lauren Fortner is the co-founder of The Edit, a powerful digital marketing agency which represents major influencers like Kourtney Kardashian, Madelaine Petsch, Gabrielle Union, and Tracee Ellis Ross to name a few. Based in LA, Lauren is no stranger to the value of creative aesthetic and knew exactly who to call upon to help her navigate the challenge of transforming the space in her newly purchased one-bedroom apartment.
The Brief
Lauren is a first-time homeowner and put down a huge down payment to secure this stunning loft in a prestigious luxury building in West Hollywood. Lauren’s brief to Erin was to take the Hollywood Regency style, moody, night owl, bachelorette pad and turn it into a light, bright and airy organic modern loft with a subtle seventies innuendo.
Erin’s Interior Design Approach
Erin’s first objective was to lighten the space and create warmth. “When I first walked in, the walls were painted black or clad with black and gold wall paper”.
The walls were painted white and we layered the concrete floor with a mix of vintage rugs of Turkish flat weaves, Morrocan shag rugs with natural fiber jute classics. To help save on costs, Erin used the existing gold hardware and fixtures throughout the kitchen and bathroom and re-contextualised it with accent pieces and layer the space with neutral textured pieces.
Some fabulous vintage finds, including the Karl Springer console table and a Saarinnen tulip table gave a nod to the subtle seventies aesthetic Lauren sought.
